Once again I'm blaming the forums for my actions. My new 809c should be in this week. I can't wait! After reading everyone's comments and searching the web. I decided to pick one up.

Forgot to mention. I had the chance to shoot my friend's 809c and was extremely impressed. So I traded off my Ruger SR9 for this pistol.

Well I have the 840 stainless, It is about 6 months old. After I purchased it I took it to the range and put 100 rounds throught it. It jammed every 3 shots and missfired about every 10, with Winchester S&W .40 and the sights were off. I thought it was complete crap, I sent oit back to Taurus on Oct. 3rd 2012. They replaced the slide, Firing pin, And other parts and sent it back, I just received it last night so I havent been able to shoot it, I am hoping it will work great and be as reliable as my PT145 was. I also installed the HighViz front sight on it last night and lined it up with a bore laser sight, and it seems to be right at 6 o'clock position with the stock rear sights. I like it a lot better. I will let you know after I shoot it again.

Just got the 809c. Put 200 rounds on it and not a single problem. One thing...mag release is very stiff needs to be broken in.

    Welcome aboard!
Yes, the release will loosen up over a little time.

Got the 809 and the 809C. I have fired the 809 with only a few problems I attribute to operator error. I still need to take the 809C to the range. I had a question for the 809C owners: do the edges around the ejection port bite your holsters? What about the loaded chamber indicator? Is it okay to get them dehorned without affecting the finish or the protection the finish offers? Thanks.

I for the life of me can not find an OEM mag though since i dont know if mine is coming with two or not. i missed out by an hour or so on Cheaperthandirt.com they had them in stock but i didnt hit the order button in time.

Bought my 809 Dec 2011, first time out shootin it messed up a bunch...lots of failure to fire, trigger hanging..not returning. About every 3rd round, the trigger would be impossible to pull and the hammer wouldn't release or decock or anything.. So I brought it home and hosed it down with some CLP, an since then it has only gotten more consistent. I just hosed it down again earlier..letting it soak. It still is very tight and needs some breaking in.

Updated I have owned my 809 compact for about 1 year now. I ran 1000 rounds though it without cleaning, the trigger failed to reset a few times at about 900 rounds. I had to hit the decocker to reset the trigger. So I cleaned it at 1000 round & the problem went away. Now i have about 1400 rounds though the gun with no failures beside the trigger not resetting from lack of cleaning. I am very happy with the gun it is easy to shoot accurately even managed to hit some 8 inch steel targets at 100 yards standing with no rest.
Negatives are it is hard to find a holster. But I found a custom Kydex IWB holster on Ebay, very nice quality.
