    Beretta goes full Taurus

I was watching the Classic Firearms vids of the 2nd day of the SHOT show, and the "new" model of the Beretta 92 (92X) has moved the safety from the slide to the frame. The salesman was telling the interviewer that it was for competition shooters. They didn't say if it was also a decocker, but it looks just like a Taurus 92. The other models still have the safety on the slide, but if this model is popular I can see all the other models changing.

The Beretta 92 was always frame mounted. It moved to the slide with the 92S. This new Beretta model is a new version of the original 92, not a later 92 variant, so it should be frame mounted.

Similar, but not "just like." The Brigideer slide makes a huge difference to some of us. There are several other differences as well. The Taurus is a fine gun, but not like a 92x.

I guess those first class tickets from Italy to Las Vegas are pretty expensive!

The Brig slide is slightly heavier, and the X series has Vertec grips, that is, a straight back like a 1911. This changes shooting characteristics quite a bit. I regularly shoot a Beretta M9a3 with a Brig style slide on it from a Wilson Combat. Also, the X series comes in a "plain Jane" version (several, actually) not in a stainless finish for half or less what the Performance models are going for. I am probably going to buy the W/C Vertec/Brigtac soon, I'm just waiting to have an X model in hand to compare it with.

Read an article on that particular Beretta, and the safety leaver was the first thing I spotted in the magazine pictures. It's better being frame mounted anyways.
    Are we there yet?

when I looked on Beretta USA the frame safety only came on the full size performance x92.
A Stainless Steel Centurion 96x or 92x with a frame safety and we can talk.
Forget about talking and cut right to the gold. 92X/96X Centurion combo box set.
