    PT 92/99 magazines

I see the original factory magazines going for 40-60 dollars on GunBroker! Are they crazy or are the originals worth that?

I must have been lucky. I have five extras, and all were less than @$20. One like new I got for $10 from a fellow who was cleaning out the gun cabinet.

See what you can get surplus Beretta M9/92FS mags for. A simple modification to the mag catch slot with a Dremel tool and you're good to go. I have three Beretta mags that I got with one PT92 I bought and they work fine.

And to answer your question...YES, the people on Gun Broker are completely crazy. It's like when you go on eBay and see an item that you already own six of and the ad says RARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No, they aren't "RARE!!!!!!!!!!!", they're looking for a sucker. I see ads for Ping Eye 2 golf wedges (which is what I use) and they'll have something about "So good they were Banned by the PGA!!!", and they'll be asking $500+ for a single Sand wedge (of which I have three and only paid $42 each for them.)

Or you can get Taurus mags for less than $30

I bought two MecGar 18 round 9mm magazines for my PT92 AFS for a lot cheaper than that and they are better than the OEM 17 rounders.

MecGar from CDNN when in stock. I have 15 and 18 rounders and they are so much better than OEM. I paid between $15 & $18 for all. Also bought MecGar for my PT100's .40S&W in same price range. Taurus 92/100 mags truly suck in comparison to MecGar.

I don't know that I'd go so far as to say...suck as they work well...but the MecGar are superior. One example, the OEM have steel base plates...the MecGar have a poly coated steel base.
