    Just bought a pt908 but...

I cannot find a factory magazine online for a decent price. I got the gun for what I think is a deal ($125) considering it’s in good shape but has no magazine with it. The original magazine blew the bottom out.

Does anyone know if a source for magazines? Does Mac gar make mags for it?

Specifically https://gunmagwarehouse.com/taurus-p...-magazine.html . Shows "out of stock". Mags for myTH9c/PT809 were out of stock, too, but I just waited a bit and they showed up in stock and I've ordered 4 of 'em since.

There are dozens available on GunBroker for $39.95 (and I think shipping is 6.00). That sounds reasonable to me. What price are you looking for if $39.95 is too high?

That is a great price on the pistol.

How? Why? No doubt I may be wrong but something bad happened in the chamber to blow out the bottom of the magazine! As far as I know magazines don't typically just blow out the bottom plate.

Glad you asked, was thinking the same thing.......................
There are "four boxes" that can be employed to resist the downfall of America, the ballot box, the soap box, the jury box and, lastly, the ammo box.

Most pistols are designed to blow out the mag well during a round blow up. Hopefully keeping the rest of the frame and slide components intact, and less damaging to the user. Since the 908 has a metal frame, you may be in luck and only need new magazines. However and this is a big deal, the pistol needs to be inspected before firing again. There are several things to check, starting with the barrel, extractor, breech face, recoil asm, frame and slide alignment etc..If you feel confident in your abilities to verify the pistol will fire safely, then go for it and let us know the results. The 908 is typically a good pistol and with care will last.

A ruptured case can do that.

That still leaves me with a question. Why did the case rupture? Defective brass? Over charged round? Regardless, the round was still in the chamber. I'm certainly no gun expert, many folks here can attest to that, but magazines don't just typically blow the base plate off on their own.

The only other thought I have is the OP's poor choice of words or a misunderstanding in the matter. Hopefully he will add more info.
