Small chip on front end of recoil rod

Mt TX22 has a small chip on the front end of the recoil rod. The chip does not hurt the function of the pistol. I thought this might be a defect in the rod but I've checked several different TX22s in videos on the web and they all have a similar small chip or indentation on the end of the recoil rod. The chip on my rod appears to be slightly larger than the other I saw. To other members, does your TX22 have such a chip?

I had called Taurus about this and I was told that they do not have any recoil spring assemblies available at this time for replacement.

That is supposed to be there. I think it is how they assemble them, with a socket that picks up the flat to screw it together. Whatever it is for, they all have it. It isn't a defect. Enjoy your new pistol!!

Thanks. I started to think it might be normal after I saw several others in the videos.

Yep, mine has it, too. At first I thought it was a locator for re assembly, but I don't think that's the reason for it.

Alfonse nailed it...the end is notched and tapered to allow the spring to be "screwed" onto the one piece guide rod.
