thks. lucked into a nice little piece of rail 35 years ago and between a cutting torch and grinder I got it made. sure have beat on it a lot since then. I need to find another piece of log to set it up on. Getting too old to work on the floor. They're putting in a second track for the florida high speed rail just down the road so i should go see if i can scrounge another piece. they don't have much in left overs now with the newer rail laying technology

Boy have I a deal for you. One free anvil base, just pay the shipping. I'd love to see the UPS guy haul this away.

I need to order metallic sights for the Marlin. I also need a decent 4x .22 scope. Just for posing purposes, I mounted my BB gun scope and bore sighted it on a mailbox at 25 yards. It looks like it could work, but when I went to adjust the ocular lens, the cross hairs spun with the lens. Piece of junk.

Nine coats of shellac applied, carded between coats. Epoxied in three bird points. Finishing coats will be finger-painted on with Tru Oil. The red & gold really pops in the sun.

The parts I have on order are still stuck in New York. Still haven't found a decent scope of the period. Slowly, it's coming together.

After carding the last coat of shellac with 5 micron abrasive and giving it a good rub with a tack cloth, the stock was finger painted with Tru Oil. Between coats it was given a five micron rub and dusted with a tack cloth. The fifth coat made the stock glow like Dorthy's ruby slippers. So I can leave it as is or soften the gloss with a carding of 0000 wool.

Good Lord man, that's beautiful! I hate to say it, but your gonna cry if you put a scratch on it.
