    Anyone own a Rossi R92

I'm looking at one of these in .357mag with the 16" blued barrel. Anyone have one of these and how has your experience been with this model? Thanks in advance!

I've had it since the 80s. It's my fave caliber, .357 magnum. I prefer the 20" barrel. To 100 yards it'll do anything the .30-30 will do using the right ammo. To 50 yards it'll do anything a .22LR will do using the right ammo. Plan on replacing the rear sight since it sux. I added a sling to mine. It had a puma on a little medallion that fell out, don't think they have that anymore. I've found with hot loads, I need to use new brass. Old stuff will separate, has happened a couple of times. That might just be my gun. I've been told it might be poor head spacing, never had it looked at. New brass with the hot stuff and you're golden. I've switched to L'il Gun, too, as it produces equal velocity to 2400 with less pressure.

Mine is 4MOA accurate with the peep sight I put on it using .357 loads at 100 yards. With a 105 grain light .38 SWC load, it'll put 5 rounds into 1.5" at 50 yards.

I have a Navy Arms in .357 that is not carried by them any more. Love the gun! I remember reading years ago that all model 92's were made by Rossi and this is true of my Navy Arms. It's stamped in an inconspicuous area. My model doesn't have that stupid safety they started putting on them.

I have the very one you mentioned. Absolutely love it. Dead on accurate. Worked well out of the box, however I did some tune up on it as recommended on the Rossi Rifleman forum (lots of great info over there).

Modern rifles are a means for the citizens to stand up to an over powering government.

What sort of tune up did you do? I'm not a gunsmith, so I hope it was something simple.

I have a 16" .357 which I really like. I removed the Buckhorn rear sight and installed a SteveGunz peep where the safety is. Removed stock and hosed action with nonclorinated brake cleaner and lubed. Cut 4" off mag spring and replaced plastic follower with a stainless steel 1 from SteveGunz. Cycled action 500 times loaded up and sighted in. Rossi Rifleman forum has all the info you will want to know.
