    Colt Python New Release

A lot of people have been waiting, wondering or hoping for Colt to release a new version of their Python and the word is January 2020. How closely it will resemble the Python of yore is yet to be seen.

    Yawwwwn!
No offense intended to OP, but after being baited once too often in the past I try not to get too excited about announcements such as this until I see the product on the shelves.

I always wanted a Python. When I looked for one (about 8-9 years ago) they were $1,500 or more (as I recall). Now -- who knows. But honestly, I'm really not interested enough to pursue one at this point.

I'd really like a S&W Combat magnum from the mid- late sixties if I could find one. I'd also like a .44 magnum Tracker

I sure hope they don't try and pass off a sub standerd Python. I really don't think they now have the skilled gunsmith's to make a Python now.

If that is the case, why bother with new production. If i have that kind of pockets i would sooner have the real deal early model. I can't see them tooling up for a production run for a limited market. I looked at the MSRP of the king cobra. It should be close or the have shot themselves in the foot with it.

Many years ago, when I was single, I bought a new in the box 6" Colt Python in royal blue for $420. It was one beautiful revolver. When I got married and kids came along I ended up selling it for $550. I spent the money on foolish things like food and a mortgage. I recently saw a 4.25" barreled King Cobra Target selling for over $1000. I have to think the Python will be quite a bit higher. I think I'll stick to Ruger or Taurus.
