How does it differ from a CPX-1? I'm a fan of manual safeties and ponder those every now and again...seeing Spectrums at less than 150 bucks and have yet to fondle one of those either.

Here is a size comparison between the SCCY CPX-3 vs CPX-2

    SCCY now offers a CPX-4 ( CPX-3 with a safety)

I, too, am a fan of manual safeties. My first carry weapon was a SCCY CPX-1, specifically because it had a manual safety.
However, I was disappointed with the CPX-1 safety. It is too weak and flimsy. I say that because sometimes it would engage itself after the recoil of a shot.
Also, it has a small ridge around the bottem to protect it, but that ridge rubs on the base of my thumb. After firing 100 rounds at the range, I have a blister on the base of my thumb.
The SCCY is a Double-action Only gun (DAO). So the trigger is a long-hard pull every time (9 lbs).
I bought a Taurus PT-111 G2 as a backup to the SCCY, but I was so impressed with the G2 that after a very short period the Taurus became my primary carry gun.
The PT-111 has a much better manual safety (crisp not flimsy), two more rounds in the magazine, a "Round-in-chamber" indicator, and a lower rail to mount a light/laser.
The SCCY is still a good gun though; and with the long-hard trigger pull, you probably don't need a safety.

Looking at the frames, I see they are the same pistol in different calibers. I had forgotten that the CPX 1 & 2 were 9mm. The SCCY really doesn't do anything for me that the guns I have in my safe can't do. Seem a bit large for a pocket gun also which would be the attraction.

The CPX-3 is not your regular 6 or 7 shot pocket 380acp pistol... Its just a bit smaller than the CPX-1 or 2 .. Supposedly easier to rack .. better trigger , smaller grip vs the SCCY 9mm pistols ... Also it has the "Quad lock system " they are a few videos online that explains what that is ... but it seems to make the pistol more accurate...

Im sure the 15oz 10rd 380acp pistol will have less recoil than a similar size 9mm or a small single stack 9mm ... I heard that the trigger on the CPX-3 is similar to the Kahr CT,CW series pistols ... But Id imagine a bit longer pull ...

Yeah...if they had made it smaller I could have been interested, but if this thing is the same size (or close to the same size) as the CPX2 then I'll hold out for the Sig p365.

    The Sig P365 is a great pistol .. A high quality P-11 with a great trigger ...
Im vested in the Glock 43 .. with +2 mag extentions give me 8+1 .. But with more print than the P365

In the lightweight small 9mm pistols. I carry standard pressure 124gr HST ...

Do it. Love mine...100% reliable and accurate too! The trigger does take some getting used to.
