    Range Report Ruger LCP .380

Added a Hogue Handall Grip to the Ruger LCP .380 today and went to the range: PERFECTION!!!! Now I know why this is such a popular gun. Fed the defense loan Federal HST JHP micro, 2 mags with no hicups. Fed 30 rounds of Sellier & Bellot FMJ perfectly as well. The gun is sooo snappy I had to try the Hogue and all the reviews were correct. Real happy to have the pocket pistol.

7 yrds. Federal HST JHP micro

7 yrs and closer, Sellier & Bellot and Federal HST

Nice shooting with the jagged splotches there, but I really like that one .44 Magnum clean perfect circle at the top of the target!

Makes a world of difference does it not? Now add some Pearce extended base plates and an adjustable trigger and you will not know it is the same gun.

Yep, Darbo, carried in my pocket at a small, private party tonight. Perfect.

I've always heard from a few guys at work that the LCP is a great gun.

Nice shooting! Is that a Gen 1 LCP?

I'm still waiting to take my new LCP 10th Anniversary Edition out to the range, just haven't managed to find the time yet.

Yes, Tuco, it is a Gen 1. That is a very nice 10th Anniversary model you have there. I have never owned a pocket pistol before. This gun is great to carry. I can't wait to shoot it again this weekend.

I've never really owned a Pocket Pistol before either, not unless you count the PPK/S as a Pocket Pistol.

My decision to get an LCP was the end result of years of research and procrastination towards getting an inexpensive yet high quality lightweight firearm for Summer Carry, Deep Concealment, and a Backup. I had considered the LCP multiple times, but kept eying other alternatives until I finally decided that I had procrastinated too long and that the LCP was the best option available due to being on the market for over a decade with multiple incremental improvements to its name. I found it especially telling that the LCP was still being offered by Ruger despite them having long since introduced a successor in the LCP II. Unreliable guns don't stay on the market for 11 years, and they especially don't remain in production 3 years after a successor has been introduced.

In my experience, firearms which endure the test of time and remain in production over a decade after their introduction are those you can really rely upon, regardless of what some might say. I don't know how long the Ruger LCP will remain in production, but I know that for the time being it is among the best in its class and has a reassuring track record.
