Nice gun and nice range report!
As many of you know I picked up a Ruger Mark III target model a few weeks ago. I wanted to wait to do an official range review until I put the new Hogue monogrip grips on it. Did that last week, so I spent about an hour with it Friday. I ran about 100 CCI minimags , 100 Remington golden bullets , and about 50 Federal champion. The result was that the CCI ,as expected , ran perfectly and was as accurate as I am. The Golden bullets also ran perfectly and were almost as accurate as the CCI. However the federal champion did cause 2 failures out of the 50 tested. I ran the Champion second after the CCI test, then moved on to the Golden bullets. So if fouling was an issue - it didn't affect the Goldens. Both failures were eject issues easy to clear, and accuracy was as good as the Goldens.
The thumb rest Hogue grip was very nice , it locks your hand into the gun very well. I did shoot it a few weeks ago with the standard grips and had a little bit of a problem keeping the barrel still. No problem with that now. Of note, I did all of this testing after shooting my PT1911 and SD9 for about 30 minutes. I was expecting to have some shakiness , but the new grip made everything stable and did reduce recoil ( not that there is much with a 22 ).
I also rented a Kahr K9 and a S&W shield as I am going to upgrade my carry piece early next year. The Kahr felt clunky , not very accurate , and had quite a bit of bite to it. The Shield was amazing - it was a bit smaller than the K9 , much lighter - but recoil was noticeably less than the Kahr and accuracy was fantastic..Now for the pics of the Mark III and targets:
Took a few shots to sight it in as I was shooting at about 65' This is using CCI minimags round nose.
Then decided to push my eyes and drew in a few small target spots on the bottom of the target - also at 65' - this gun is very accurate. Can't wait to try it at 100 and 200 feet. I am very pleased with this purchase. Now to convince my daughter to try shooting , since I have a great beginner pistol for her to try. Ginger already loves it , and wants to try it with the new grips as well. Maybe next weekend. Thanks to all my TA.net friends on helping me choose the right pistol.

Nice gun and nice range report!
There is nothing in life so bad or so awful that it cannot be made infinitely worse by a lawyer.
Made me remember just how enjoyable the Ruger Mark series are to target shoot.

I like the looks of that Hogue grip. Might have to give that a try.
That's a fine looking pistol! Thanks for the good range report.
