Aero Precision is running a sale on their blem AR lowers. A Gen2 lower for $50. Lots of specialty lowers, like Yeet Cannon DTOM, and Texas in both AR Gen2, M4E1, and M5 (AR 10), and matched sets.

Battle of Wanat: 10 years ago last 13 July, 1LT Brostram was killed in combat killing the last enemy combatant in the outpost. The LT went to the point of decision and made the difference that turned the tide of the battle. The original investigation found the Bde Cmdr, the Bn Cmdr and the Co Cmdr at fault for dereliction of duty. If you want to see what a sarcastic silver star citation reads like, pull up the company commander's silver star.

Oh boy...the upper I've been lusting for is on sale ...WITH the BCG and CH. It's only the cost of setting up for the reloading that is holding me back. ARRRGGHHHH

That is a good price, if I didn't already have a .458 SOCOM, I would be hard pressed to resist this $270 complete upper with BCG and CH. The bolt for it alone is about $70. You don't usually find any AR at this price point with a full length free float handguard.

Hey, Olfarhors, do you have a .458 SOCOM yet? Hint, hint.

    NO!
I em afraid of dem killer Black rifles!
seriously not very familiar with the caliber , as to what the pros and cons are so no interest now?
maybe once I get to reading and looking at those naughty pictures of the gun I might get excited about one?
Not sure it would really fit into a close to need caliber for me as I don't hunt any longer.
but thanks for the continued enabl---ahh assistance !

Well, among other attributes, it shoots .458 bullets that range from 250 grains up to 650 grain (original sub load that is no longer made). Those special guys in the green berets wanted a rifle they could silence that would take out a guard, whether he was wearing armor, or not. The original sub bullet was a 650 grain spire point with a boat tail (think giant A-Max). If the target was wearing armor that the bullet could not penetrate, it would still crush the target's chest. Problem was there is a sweet spot for silencers, around .355, so the SOCOM was still loud, you just couldn't tell which direction the sound was coming from. Well, that and the fact that a 30 round 5.56mm magazine only holds 11 round of heavy .458 SOCOM rounds. Ballistically the .458 SOCOM is equivalent to the 45/70 but will work in a modified AR (upper receiver ejection port needs to be enlarged. Works well on anything you would use the .45/70 on, i.e., any North American big game.
