    Thinking about it

    https://www.cdnnsports.com/ar15-carb...U#.WfEjO3WGO00

I bought a lower receiver and now I'm thinking about what I'd like to do with it. I would like to do a .450 Bushmaster build, but they're $$$.
What led me to this one is the free-floated barrel and the M-Lok forend.

Ideas? (And while it is always fun to spend someone else's money, keep in mind this has to be a budget build.)

The .458 SOCOM is interesting, but the .450 Bushmaster can be used for hunting around here; the .458 cannot. So if I do go big bore, it would be the .450 BM. If only I could see a way to do one at a reasonable price.

Well, it seems the price is coming down, Midway is selling the complete upper for $579. And, supposedly (I haven't found where yet), they are available for as low as $519. That's getting contemplatable.

Don't look to me to tell you no, man - I find building and tinkering with ARs almost as fun as shooting them. My first AR was assembled from a $400 ATI carbine kit and I ended up adding/replacing stuff over time until it looked nothing like what it did when I was done (replaced stock, pistol grip, FCG, handguard, gas block, charging handle and muzzle device and then added accessories), so if you can get some of your desired upgrades 'out of the box', then go for it.

I looked in to this. The Bushmaster is pricey, but the .458 SOCOM brass makes up for it. In the end, I fixed up my old SKS with a new scope. This was for night hunting pigs. I wanted the big bore for big boars.

So I found a complete upper in .450 BM for $539. Not too bad, figure about $100 for the rest of the parts

If you buy it and find yourself looking for a cheap BUIS set, the UTG 'Model 4' flip ups are not bad at all, particularly for $43 for the set.
