Picked up G2C today. First Taurus in years.

Not starting out bashing Taurus by any means. I have owned 5 Taurus handguns in the past. 2 were perfect, 2 had issues from the start and 1 was a catastrophic failure that ended up in a replacement gun 6 mo ths later. I've stayed away from Taurus feeling burned before. But lately I can't get past the urge to pick up a G2C. On paper it's the perfect carry gun. Right caliber, right size and capacity. Just what I want in a carry gun. I gave in a bought one today. Granted I haven't live fired it yet but I don't have a warm fuzzy feeling for it already. I field stripped it and cleaned and lubed after I got I home. I loaded up a mag of HST 147 grain and tried to rack the slide. No matter how I try to load it I can't get a round to chamber. It stops about a half inch out of battery. And the rounds I clear out have marks on them from jamming into the feed ramp. Any suggestions or is another package to Miami for me?

Would start out with a few hundred rounds of Blazer brass 124gr. or 115gr. RN for break in. Then try the HST's.

Agree. Start out with some FMJ 124 grain brass and see how it runs.

I had the same problem with my G2C. Search for my post: "I think I fixed my G2C" on this forum.

The G2C is a great gun; if it had a decocker it would be perfect.
I just wish the Taurus Quality Assurance department was better at their job.
I estimate that 5% of the guns should never leave the factory.
Another problem is that too many G2C's have a "click" or "hitch" as you retract the trigger.
I gotta fix for that too.

Now I've got to know that fix. My trigger is actually pretty good as long as you use the pad of your finger and pull straight back. Any side to side movement and it has the hitch. As for the cycling problem, it might just not like HST. When the rounds jam the slide is super tight and hard to extract the cartridge. Last night I loaded up some 115 fmj and the cycled smooth and effortlessly. I thought i had a rough chamber but this would tell me it's an overall lenght problem.

The trigger safety on the G2/G2C/G2S is a hook that grabs the back of the trigger bar and keeps the trigger from going backwards. When you push the trigger safety it compresses the nylon leg on the trigger safety that acts as a spring and it lifts the metal hook above the trigger bar to clear and allow the trigger to move backwards. If the nylon leg/spring is too firm, or the hook is to sharp on the tip and grabs too much bite, you get that hang up you feel. The standard resolution usually involves weakening the leg with heat from a hair dryer while compressing it, taking the gun apart and rounding the tip of the metal hook a bit, or replacing the trigger with a model that does not have the trigger safety.

I use Federal Train and Protect HP's for carry rounds and have had zero issues with those. I did initially send a little over 100 rnds of ball ammo through it when I first shot it. I bought some snap caps and those do tend to hang up every now and then.

Taurus mag springs are notorious tight when new. Loading them full and letting sit for a few days can help. I really like my G2 and agree that it is close to the perfect carry gun.

I think you mean Federal Train and Protect. Train and Defend is the Winchester version.
