Granted a large blow-back does not have a lot of recoil to most, but it's still more than the same weight gun with a locked breech.
Yes, this. Thanks glenwolde. Got to be locked Breech design.. And the link shows the Witness weighing in at a tremendous 30 oz, too! That's full size territory! I think I'll be looking for a PT638 instead of the 138 based on the recall info.......

I see that they report the weight at 25 ounces. https://eaacorp.com/guns/handguns/wi...y-tanfolgio-26

Tall order, 380 with more than 8 rounds (basically a double stack) that has short recoil operation.

There's also the PT 938 but that's probably the biggest .380 ever made. All metal. Also hard to find.

It's sounding more and more like the PT638 is the best possible answer so far.......

Hmmmm. Thanks! That one has potential. 10+1, so just a bit shy on the capacity side, but that's still 3 rounds more than her P238 holds. Recoil (locked breech) operated, and light weight @ 14-15oz! And manufactured right here in the good ole USA........where I was born, in Daytona Beach, FL, even! LOL!

Now to find one and see if the wife can rack the slide, and likes the trigger........

EDIT: Looks like the SCCY CPX-3 was only in production for a short time, and only a few got out the door at the factory. None available anywhere I could find, and the SCCY forum seems to indicate this particular model is "history", at least for the time being.

I bought 2 PT638's about a year ago and have not been disappointed. I also ordered 4 new magazines direct from Taurus which came quickly. If you can find a 638, I would not hesitate to buy it since they are discontinued. I was lucky and found one at a local farm supply store that also sells guns. I bought my second one at another one of their stores in a neighboring town. They were new, old stock. I would call Taurus and ask about the availability of magazines. The part number for a magazine for a PT638 is 5-10638. Good luck. BTW...the 638 is my wife's gun of choice whenever we go to the range.

Thanks. Looks like I will be getting one through Gunbroker. Should have it by early next week. I'll definitely look into the magazines as well.

OK As someone here has taught me pick which ever one has the bells and whistles that blows your skirt up and have a ball.. So Pt 638 and the PT 138 I know me I run with the underdogs I do the 138 Why? 1) Pt138 is an awesome weapon 2) With the recalls it covers the SAFETY FLAW? if you can keep fingers off trigger and teach that Keep finger OFF trigger until ready to kill or punch holes in the target your gonna be fine. That is just me though
