Can a 40 cal be converted to 9mm?

Around here there is plenty of 40 cal ammo, but almost no 9mm. Since everything I've read says there is great similarity between the 9mm to 45 cal Pro series, can I purchase a 40, and an upper assembly from Taurus when the 9mm becomes available? I carry a CZ75D but want something more compact and would prefer a 9mm over a 40, but the ammo situation is critical here. Thanks. AGM

The cartridge size difference might pose a problem with the different magazines fitting the grip/frame. That's just my thoughts anyway. And maybe other issues as well. You could always get one of each!

Even if it would work, which I doubt, the cost of a barrel, slide, magazines, etc from Taurus parts might well exceed the cost of the second gun - or be close enough not to make it worth the effort.
