Sometimes mags drop sometimes they dont

So my mags that came with the pt111 g2 have pretty much always dropped free. One I got from academy never really had dropped completely free sometimes it would. Just tonight I noticed none of them are? This was pretty cold today. Im wondering if these grips are so thin that they expand and contract enough to affect the mag drop. Hmm noticed their is skinny plastic rails inside the grip the mags ride on. May have to do some fine smoothing or slight filling and smoothing. This is interesting anyone else noticed this before?

I've had mags fail to drop from the paint being too thick, and have used ought, and then 0000 steel wool on them until they are as smooth as a baby's butt and drop real fine.

I use an oiled q-tip on the inside of the grip and lightly oil the outside of the two mags. If you do similar, make sure it's quality oil that stays soft/pliable in the cold temps and won't get sticky or gummy.

None of my mags would drop, when the PT111 was new. Then after the first cleaning, they would randomly drop. Now after the 3rd cleaning, it's smooth-as-silk drops.

This gun is well over 3000 rnds used and cleaned inside and out many times. It's wired cause today it's back to the norm of 2 mags dropping free and one not quite. I'm gonna try polishing the mags with 0000 aught wool. If that ain't enough I'll work on those polymer rails inside. Thanks for the advice.

I'd choose silicone over oil and, yeah taking them down .001 can do the trick especially if you know where the hang up is.

A spray silicone that dries, although I would probably opt for graphite with molybdenum. A little messy for a while, but should not add back to the thickness, and those mags should squirt out of there like a greased pig.
