It appears to me that mine will eat just about anything. Start out with standard round nose for training and practice and select a good personal defense round for carry.

I use just a cheap 115 grain FMJ. Like a Winchester white box, ZQ1 from Walmart, almost anything on the .26 cents a round range. I have seen ZQ1 round have about 1dud in a box of 50. Not great, but it can do if that's all you can find. I have Freedom Municians just down the road from me in Houston. They have reloads for about .24 a round and guarantee there work.
Now for carry, i like the results from different sources on the Federal HST round. Great consistency. Good luck.

Taurus recommends 124 gr. standard pressure ammunition for all of their 9mm pistols, you can use +P ammunition on a limited basis so I would restrict any +P ammo usage for carrying only. I don't have a 111 G2 myself, but my 92 runs pretty much anything.

More often than not, my range ammo is 115 gr. in various brands because that's what seems to be most prevalent in the store anymore. For carry I'm currently using Remington UMC 124 gr. JHP standard pressure, I sincerely doubt that I'll have a need for the slight bump in velocity and force. Doubt they'll really hurt any more than the standard rounds from a 4-5" barrel, getting shot is still getting shot in my opinion.

I'm not sure what to tell you aside from just trying a few different brands of ammo, I basically buy whatever is on the shelf that day if the price is reasonable. The only ones I avoid are Winchester White Box because they seem to be under loaded and give trouble cycling some of my other guns, and I don't buy TulAmmo in steel cases for my handguns because the coating likes to melt in the chamber and seal in the powder residues. I only use it for my Eastern Bloc guns like my AK, Mosin-Nagant, and Radom P-64; they were made with tolerances which primarily had that ammo in mind.

According to the tests that ShootingtheBull did, the federal 124r HST was the winner for 9mm defense load out of a 3inch barrel.

This is what I carry in my PM9, and it is what will be in the MilG2 if I carry that.

I've shot hornady critical defense, tulammo (steel and aluminum) federal aluminum, blazer brass, fiocchi, and a few other brands I can't think of at the moment. I haven't had a single issue except for 1 ftf and that was on a tulammo brass maxx. The second strike got it to fire though.
