    Greetings to all members!

Hi to all members, I am a late 1979 and 1980's former gunsmith and military (infantry); still working as a civilian with the military in USSOUTHCOM, Miami FL. I worked at a gun store "shop" before going on active duty late 1979 and kept working with 1911 Colt's thru my military career for myself and friends.

A posted question on the ATI light weight "Fat Boy" .45 cal pistol sparked my interest in joining the group. So I purchased one at a gun show and it is "work in progress" since, just at it was back then with the Colts 1911 in the late seventies.

I have worked the action "polished the feeding ramp" and "trigger" as well experimented different magazines options and springs for it; which led me to the P13 mags as the option for it, however sometimes the round will get hung up as it goes in; perhaps I will try P14 spring on the P13 magazine or the wolf P13 spring replacement which shall have 10% more spring tension. I made this my work in progress since I like the package. It has taken some work to get it to process any "not" full metal jacket (FMJ) round reliable; so I would not make it my choice to carry conceal yet. Accuracy is consistent and the recoil manageable as my Colt Officers model which is stainless and ported. The balance is good and so is the grip. I have run about 200 rounds thru it so it is time to use the internal parts wear and tear marks to hone those areas and improve the trigger pull action.

Hope this helps, and will continue to post the results for your benefits.

    V/R,

    Surfride,

    Welcome (wow, I'm the first)!

Nice to have a real gunsmith on board. There are always questions coming up that could use some expert input.

Welcome, from the Rust Belt USA....

Welcome aboard, always good to see the family grow.

I had an ATI Fatboy .45acp. Even had an extra magazine for it. Extra magazine are more rare than the pistol itself...LOL!!
