    Newbie from California

Old man, just bought a PT24/7 9mm. Only guns I had before (except 1) were given to me by my Dad, may he R.I.P. But incredible guns! An old Savage 12 gauge, a Winchester model 71 deluxe, a 22 (I can't remember the make) rifle, and an old Webley that shoots .45ACP. When I started hunting & lived in N.E. Mississippi, I bought a SKS for $100. So I don't shoot a lot but just love cool guns. I don't know if the Taurus is "cool", but it suits me.

    Re: Newbie from California

    Welcome to the Taurus forum.

Vintage arms just add a layer of mystique, personal memories, and personal enjoyment out of all proportion to factory new everything. Not that new isn't a good thing. Just that there's just something about hunting or collecting guns that mean something to the owner and no one else.

The 9x19 is a excellent pick from defense cartridge and due to budget constraints.

9x19 ammo of the right kind make give a decent level of protection, have low recoil, and cost less than other defense calibers.

I do recommend going through this and the FAQs section:
    https://www.taurusarmed.net/forums/in...p?topic=6716.0

    To add to that there's:
    https://www.taurusarmed.net/forums/in...p?topic=1926.0
    https://www.taurusarmed.net/forums/in...p?topic=7430.0
    https://www.taurusarmed.net/forums/in...p?topic=7378.0

There are links in the above with info that may prove helpful.

As with any new pistol, please do a field strip of the 24/7 and clean it. This includes the firing pin channel and other nooks and crannies on the gun.

These pistols are function fired at the factory with a few rounds and then packed in grease for shipment and storage.

Granted, you probably know most of what has been written down, but I wanted to make sure everything was covered. Or just about that. LOL

Us old dogs have to learn new tricks at times. LOL

    Glad to have you aboard.
