Jake 3501 posted a Ray Benson (Asleep at the Wheel) song on another thread, and it got me thinking- (I love that Texas Swing!)

Ok.........this entry will probably be greeted by yawns and visions of elevators in here but I love this type of music.
It is relaxing and it makes the world seem to be a better place, at least for me, for a few minutes.
This gentleman is a member of a group I belong to.
Everyone takes turns recording songs they have composed and played.
This of course is done on a lap steel like all of the music plus any other instrument someone can play and use a accompaniment.
........and it is not a typo........the name is really "The Lang Road Hame".
He also did all of the photography and the video composition.

Notice: the music itself starts at around 1 minute with about a 30 second lead in.

Thanks a lot. Now I'm going to spend hours listening to lap/steel guitar videos on youtube.

    "Lang Road hame" sounds Celtic.

I'll bet not many here remember this one. A radio station in Chicago switched from whatever format it was using over to R&R way back in the early sixties. To get noticed it played this for 24 hours straight with no commercial breaks.

When I lived in Denver in the mid 1960s there was a DJ who called himself Pogo Poge (Poe) (real name Morgan White) who did something like that on April Fools Day.

"...On one April Fool’s Day, he played “Tom Dooley” for the entire day, although at the end of each playing he would announce another number. It always turned out to be “Tom Dooley,” said his daughter..."

He was a crazy man who did outrageous stunts to attract listeners and he owned the mid 60s Denver rock and roll scene.

"...When Secrest was a reporter, he was sent out on a slow-news Saturday night to 16th Street by an editor who told him “to see what was going on.”
Secrest listened as teen-laden cars cruised 16th and 17th streets downtown and “every one of them had their radios tuned to KIMN and Poge,” said Secrest.
“It was like a gigantic stereo system,” ..."

Stunt-spinning DJ Pogo Poge kept teens tuned to rock ?n? roll ? The Denver Post
