I have to drive to Springfield about an hour and a half drive to get a once a month fix. I can eat 15 -20 of them. They are my second favorite burger behind Kewpee's with everything beside the kitchen sink on them.
My wife is from Ohio. When we got married 40 years ago next Valentine's Day, we ran off to Detriot where you can get married at 18. My honeymoon supper was a quart of buttermilk and a full sack of White Castles' little heaven-drops! FYI: Just a tip; don't ever get a blood test at a local health clinic in downtown Detroit. And for those who like the show "Nightcourt", we got married in front of a JP in what looked like the NIGHTCOURT set.
People think I am crazy but sometimes I have to get up pretty early and drive 2 or 3 hours to be at a job site, and their is nothing like White Castle at 5 in the morning. And not I don't mean the breakfast food but the burgers.
Hadn't had White Castle and/or Birch Beer in years.......
They are called sliders for a reason... you know why.
I have not had a fresh White castle since 1992. I used to get 6-12 cheeseburgers and 2 surf &turfs all with hot sauce.
I had 2 frozen White castles this weekend.
I used to get them for 12 cents a piece. I would get a bag of 8 for $.99 and have them eaten by the time I walked home with the sack. In my younger days, I could polish off about 20. Now I can go about 6 and Im stuffed.
Krystal is the southern version.
Used to eat them by the sack full. Not anymore.
