Has Anyone had to Change Info on Your States Drivers License Lately?

I have to change my address on my Drivers License.

The last time I did this it only took proof of moving like electric bill with new address and voter registration card so I went down there with this information. No such luck the guy a the counter said I need my social security card and or birth certificate new policy. So after waiting in line for 45 minutes I'm headed back home to get my social security card and two other forms of ID just in case. Well back at the DMV waited in line for another 25 minutes there's another person at the counter now they tell me I also need my birth certificate that's when I tell them the last person said sos or birth cert. I haven't had a birth certificate in years. Anyway I asked I need all this to change my address? She said yes then I said if they didn't trust who I was before now why didn't they send me notice of that? Her response was I don't know. I asked so if I get pulled over leaving here do I have to show the officer all this too or just my license? She said just your license so I said and that's good enough to prove who I am she said yes and I said this department issued me this license yet won't except it as proof of who I am she said no we won't I said won't or can't? She said yes... ???????
So I left again in a not so pleasant mood.

More years ago then I care to remember I showed this type of information to get my first license and all these years since I only need to show proof of residence of the state I was living to either change or up date this information. 12 years ago when I went and upgraded my license to a class B with air brakes and Passenger endorsement I only had to show proof of passing the course and driving test.

We are getting to be more and more like a socialist country. Before long we will be like Germany during Hitlers day every were you go you will have to show papers.
How screwed up is that to be able to drive in the county I grew up in and have been driving for 30 plus years have to show a birth certificate sos and other forms of ID yet to become President you don't have to? Maybe I should have ran for President then I would have needed all that.

Ok so it is illegal if you don't change your address with in thirty days of moving or to change it on you carry license here. Now with all the several weeks has brought I thought now I can finally get this stuff straight I have a week left which I thought was plenty of time guess not. After ordering a new birth cert and almost thirty dollars later it could take up to six weeks to come. So what happens between now and then? I better be good huh?

    What a wonderful world....

I moved 2 years ago (new house, same town) here in Louisiana and just gave them my new address. Surprisingly the DMV has gotten much more efficient here in the past several years. I seldom have to go there since I can renew my registration online and when I do have to go to the DMV it's gotten to be a much smoother and efficient operation.

Every time I go to the Revenue office to re-new my dl it's an experience.
    Usually funny.
Couple months ago I re-newed mine, I had lost some weight since my last license, clean shaven, and had my hair lopped off.
Their computer while processing my photo, was only 43% sure it was me............
Good thing the revenue office guy has known me for 20 years so he just had to sign off on it.

    Then there's the time, I didn't exist.......

Then the time I had warrants and was considered armed and dangerous.........

Yep, I love re-newing my dl.

If you do much traveling be ready to educate law enforcement, that your Louisiana license is NOT expired if you have the new sticker on the back of your license. Few years ago I was with my Louisiana buddies in upstate NY (Corning) on our motorcycles, when one of them got pulled over by state troopers. We were an hour sorting it out. They had never seen anything like it and was convinced it was expired.

Great, I have to renue mine next year. I may as well start getting ready. I just found this website:

Official Website Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles

So far, I don't like what I'm seeing.

    EDIT:

OK, now I'm getting a little pissed... Just what does this mean:

"A birth certificate must be issued by a government agency. Hospital birth certificates cannot be accepted."

I don't have a government issued birth certificate. I have an old ragged fading copy from the county hospital. The only other option relevant to me is a valid passport. I have an old expired passport. Is that still thought to be valid??? I doubt it. But that is only step one. It seems that is indeed a must to have both the "Primary Identification" AND "Proof of Social Security Number"... I love how a card issued years ago that isn't a valid photo ID can be used to show that you are indeed who you say you are. That makes plenty of sense. On top of all that you still are required to have "2 Proofs of address" and while there are several options available, none of them seem at all like what you would expect from a security standpoint if security is indeed the reason for this. I'm pissed and it looks like it's time to write the Governor yet again. I'm sure that much like the last time I will only get some pointless waste of time form letter back again, but it's doing something at least.

That little magnetic strip on the back of your drivers license contains more information than anyone should have access to. In Texas, to get the Homestead Tax exemption now (new law), you must have a drivers license and vehicle registration showing that address, so you can't procrastinate getting those changes made.

We are supposed to be able to do ours online but about the time I get everthing filled out it would redirect me and loose it all.

When I went to DMV I thought I was on a scavenger hunt...

....they asked my for a weed eater, some cool whip, and a nude photo of Walter Brennan.

I'm writing them also and will probably get the same response back. We are sorry for the inconvenience and it's for your own good and national security or some BS like that.
