    Trivia Question

I just finished watching the Gary Cooper film "The Hanging Tree" - which, incidentally, is one of my all-time favorites and was one of the first of what we now call "revisionist" westerns.

You may recall that at the end Marty Robbins sings a verse of the theme song and it is he who prompts the question:

Marty Robbins had a nickname - or at least a 'billing line' - something that often followed his name.

So it's up to you (older) country music fans to try to remember what it was and post it here.

NOTE: If you use Google or Wikipedia, you're cheating.

NOTE TWO: Those of you who are in your second childhood have an unfair advantage that will take 10 points off your final score.

    Sorry.
    Neither answer is correct.

(Although Rodfair may be correct in his answer to Note Two.)

    MR TEARDROP?
C'mon! Would the guy who wrote and sang "El Paso" let anyone call him Mr. Teardrop?

OK. No more takers, so here's what I had in mind:
I got to see Marty Robbins in concert once and on TV a few times.
In my memory, he was introduced as "The man with the teardrop in his voice."

Good luck with that second childhood, rodfair. I'm working on mine, too.

I don't recall that type of introduction when my buddy and I took the two Bridgeport, CT sisters to see his performance in Marshalltown,IA. back in the days he was singing "A White Sportcoat and A Pink Carnation", back in "64" to be exact.
