The times, they are a changin'

Personally, I'm sick of the way things are changing. I miss the good old days.

If women can do the job...LET THEM!
Good Luck and congratulations to her.
The Marines do not give positions out like this to the "also rans"
    It ain't politics after all.

Good for her, I am 100% certain she deserves it. Knowing several Marines and having listened to lots of stories, I know that they don't give out positions like this just because they have to. She had to deserve it and worked hard for it.

We need more women in leadership roles. I've worked for enough incompetent men in my days.

That glass ceiling is still there.

Know of any current tyrannical women dictators?

Now, I ask this in all ignorance - assume I know nothing...
As a woman in the Marines, what kind of combat experience has she had? Obviously she has commanded in a combat theater, but has she ever had to duck? It seems to me that a commander of Parris Island should have spent some time actually under fire.

Even at GM The women that get the biggest promotions are vary good at what they do. I have worked directly with some of the best Bosses that were women and they new their stuff. Now in the lower promotions like foreman. They get promoted and fired when they cost the company money by their zero knowledge of the job. Some sue
But they let out enough rope that there is no question as to the decision made.

I would hope that the Marines did the right thing. But there's plenty of bad leaders that are men in the armed service too.

She has a good background. All the right schools and such.

She has served in Iraq and in truth it appears there is no safe area in country. The green zone is a target as far as the other side is concerned. This began in Nam and is becoming more common. A bud of mine who never left the green zone came back minus a leg.

Only time will tell. I've known combat tested officers who stunk at their jobs.
