    El Paso got rain yesterday

11 hundreths (.11) of an inch!!!

That means our total this year is an amazing 1.32 inches behind normal for June 2.

Is this place dry, or what?

There is a reason this area is known as The Great Chihuahuan Desert!!

    Know what else?

June 1 marks the official start of the freakin'

    MONSOON SEASON!!!

What BUTT? 1.3" behind for 5 months is nothing!

Did you mean 13" or something?

I posted an animated map of our brief rain shower a few weeks ago under username Jestmaty. I'm actually hoping this mini storm tracking across the gulf of Mexico turns a bit northward and runs right over us!

I watched the radar for El Paso last night and it looked like you were getting a good rain. I kept watching, hoping and praying for the storms to come to Lubbock, but none did. Lubbock is 8 inches behind in soil moisture for the year.

For dryland cotton farmers, who have to plant and get a "stand" of cotton to qualify for disaster payment, I doubt the seeds will germinate.

I have a rain guage, that measures 1/100ths of an inch. Here on my place, we're still just under 3/4ths of an inch for the year. Dry land cotton is planted, and probably won't germinate. Underground drip fields are planted, but likely won't germinate either without top moisture. And the wind blows all day every day. I'm dry!
