    More big cats!!

Got these pics in an email today. Supposedly a cow was killed outside of Brady TX and a game camera was set up to see what was preying on it. Disturbing to see that many at one place!

Wow! Are those cougars? I didn't know you had them in Texas. Up here in WI we get the rare sighting of a cougar. Wolves are the big thing up here...thanks DNR.

A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.

Does that sound familiar??? Wake up America!

That is a incredible picture! Are you sure it wasn't taken in Africa? I never knew
cougars gathered in prides like lions. I thought they were solitary animals for the
most part. Thanks for sharing that with us, you learn something new every day.
I would definitely be within arm's reach of a high powered gun wherever I went
in that neck of the woods. Then again, unless it was an assault rifle, I don't know
if it would do much good with that many big cats around. I've never seen a sight
    like that in North America.

    Re: More big cats!!

We call them several names, cougars, pumas, panthers, mountain lions.

Folks are seeing a lot more of them, every year that goes by, and not just in the hill country of Texas.

Even here in the flatlands, I've had farmer friends report seeing the big cats.

The only predator to bother the big cats is man, and the population of the big cat has gone virtually unchecked for years. Occasionally, a rancher may get a shot at one, however, actively hunting big cats is fairly futile, unless from the air.

    WOW!

And here I am complaining about the (domestic) cats that used to sleep on my convertable. One of these would have crushed it.

The biggest predator we have in the UK (apart from the ones in MacDonalds) is the fox.

    Re: More big cats!!

I can't guarantee the amount of truth to these pics. I got them in an email and thought they were just too awesome to not share. I've seen plenty of game cam shots of Mountain Lions, but never more than one at a time that I can remember. I myself have never seen one in person, but know plenty that have and a few that have shot one. I remember a few years ago when there were tracks found here in Victoria in Riverside Park along the river. If I ever ran into 7-8 of these at once I'd unload my gun, then probably my pants.

    Re: More big cats!!

Read the book "The Beast in the Garden" by David Baron last year - it really makes a lot of good points about how the eco movement has lead to more of this kind of thing - and our being overrun with cats like this due to foolish ideas about welcoming deer into suburbia. Those pictures are pretty fantastic - makes me believe dad was right, LOL - he always said that our property belongs to the critters after dark!

    Re: More big cats!!

Cougars are seen occasionally in the hills of southern Ohio. Never saw one but found the tracks on a farm I used to hunt. The farmer claimed he had seen them on occasion.

    Re: More big cats!!

I used to have a pic from a game camera somebody sent me of a deer being stalked by a lion. Been searching my email but I don't know where it went! Anyway, it was a really cool pic. The lion was about 3 feet behind a doe and she had no idea!
