ebay tactical handheld flashlights any good?

Looking to replace my beater D cell flashlight. Came across a gazillion tactical flashlights for sale on ebay. Most either have a stand alone battery charger or a USB type charging system. Anybody have any thoughts?

No affiliation they just make great lights that work. You can buy their lights on ebay as well.

So do you want to stick to D cell?

If so, the Maglight D that take three batteries start at $26. Their four battery lights start at $30. That's pretty hard to beat. I've had so-so results with off brand. Some are great, and some aren't very reliable.

When I bought a light for my AR, I ended up buying this one from Amazon. It's an off brand but I'll tell you, it's well built and the light is BRIGHT. I'd buy it again if I just needed one for knocking around my truck, or one for house duty.

Tact lights from Ebay can provide a backup or house light, but buy name brand if you want reliability for self defense purposes.

MagLite is so behind on the times. Honestly the only reason they are still around is brand recognition.

There are lots of them out there -- all types. I have a Streamlight I like pretty well - had it for 10 years and there are better ones these days. Ebay isn't the only source either

I think that Maglite is still around because what they makes work! I have 3 D cell Maglites in my house, barn, shop, and truck. Listen to the voice of experience, when a Florida hurricane knocks out the electric for a week or 10 days I need a light I don't even have to think about. Sure they are heavy but if I need to whack somebody or something I'm sure glad they are. When the water going out to the barn is two feet deep and it's blowing rain I know my Maglite will stay lit. When the battery is drained it doesn't just go out, it starts getting dimmer so I have time to change batteries and that is quicker then waiting an hour or so for a light to recharge. When there is no electric I don't worry about finding a USB port somewhere to recharge the light I just change the batteries.

There are places for the modern lights but just because something is old it doesn't mean it's no good anymore.
