Praise God, alleluia! Contacted by Methodist hospital today!

Okay, if ya didn't know, I've been diagnosed with a blood cancer, myelofibrosis, and put on this treatment (not a cure) called "Jakafi". I've gotten help with the extravagant cost of the stuff and there's a chance my assistance could dry up. I don't like being dependent on that, plus my new oncologist tells me the Jakafi could stop working. Even if it don't, it leaves me extremely anemic. I can't do much physical and feel awful most days, sleep a lot. I bought a motorized wheel chair to get around shopping and such. I can usually get into the store with my handicapped parking, but I have to stop and catch my breath a lot shopping and it's tough on me.

My new oncologist told me I needed a bone marrow transplant and that it would CURE me, not just keep me alive in a state of fatigue as the Jakafi seems to do. Better alive than dead, I suppose, and the wheelchair is actually kinda fun, but my future isn't looking so good if the stuff quits working.

Now, I'm 67 years old and MD Anderson, who I was trying to go through, won't do marrow transplants on anyone over 70, so the clock has been ticking. MD Anderson turned me down because my insurance wouldn't pay for it. They denied it because Anderson isn't in my "network" or some such. Apparently, Methodist is. The wife got the call today and she's going to set us up for an appointment in a couple of weeks. Heck, I'd go tomorrow, but the guys are showing up to build our front porch tomorrow, so have to stick around.

We've prayed and prayed for this and our church is praying. We met first time since COVID hit this past Sunday. Can't tell me, with all what's happened to me (long story) recently that God doesn't exist. I know better!

The power of faith will often trump the roadblocks that society creates.

    Proverbs 3:5-6 comes to mind.

I have met some of those Texas Methodist a few times over the last ten years. They come to help after hurricanes. I see they do a little helping at home too. Thank you for posting. Thinking of you, the Texas Churchmen and how the Lord works through us and for us. Where two or more gather in his name. We are a link in a chain. We my never know why we are linked but He knows what He is about.
This post may lift someone up or guide them. Even in our times of need it may be for his service.
His son gave his life in service for our sins.

quoting bible verse violates site guidelines. Sorry.

His timing is not always our timing, I'll expand on this in a few days if all goes as planned for my family.

I Praise his name for you!

Awesome to hear. Will pray you get in, done, and recovered quick. God definitely answers prayers so, be specific with your prayers because he has a sense of humor that may not have you laughing for quite awhile.

Ask me how I know sometime.

Is bone marrow transplant something you need anti-rejection meds for all your life or if you get a close donor you're good to go?

The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest we become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance. - Cicero 55 B.C.
