The "Beast" May Be The Pace Car For The Daytona 500

Is it pandering that President Trump is named the Grand Marshall? I was wondering if the POTUS would be in the limo on the lap and it appears that he and Melania will enjoy the event.

Pandering? I wouldn't say so. He's not the first President to say "start your engines," and how many have thrown out first pitches?

Pretty cool though. At least, for NASCAR.

And how better to drown out whiny protesters than with about 25,000 horse power worth of stock car engines?

The Second Amendment does not grant the right to bear arms, that right is inherent. The Second Amendment prohibits the government from infringing upon that right.

The nice thing was that he was WELCOME at the Daytona 500. Ain't no better class of people than the Red Neck Class.

I have seen President Trump attend NFL games where not only was he not welcome by the public and players, but neither teams owner extended an invitation to the Owners Suite.

Like him or not as a person, he is still the elected President of the United States of America!!

I think that it is amazing how quickly these fans forget that NASCAR banned the NRA presence and advertising from their tracks.

I guess it is all a matter of priorities.

Don't think that limo thing could climb up very far on the bowl at 100 mph or less. It'll have to stick to the apron. I've been on the bowl at Daytona on a 250cc GP bike. You have to be over 130 or so to climb up on the bowl comfortably. At 180 or so, it's more comfortable ... or at least they tell me. That's superbike/open GP territory. My little 250 could run 155 and the fastest top speed through the traps for a 250 was 174 that year as I recall. That was 1981.

Bein' POTUS is like bein' a parent. You may not really be a fan of what your kids are into but you're still obligated to attend the events and show support.
