This is just a really good reminder that we live in a very different world than we did even 5 years ago. I agree that if she's not your wife or girlfriend, your hands shouldn't be on her. Period. No lines crossed, no misunderstandings.

When Leonidas was preparing to make his stand, a Persian envoy arrived. The envoy explained to Leonidas the futility of trying to resist the advance of the huge Persian army and demanded that the Spartans lay down their arms. Leonidas told Xerxes "MOLON LABE", or "Come And Get Them."

He screwed up and will pay a hefty price both in court and in the court of public opinion. It's hardly a federal case or felony whoever. It's a cautionary tale...you have to watch those endorphins!

Better yet, give Husband, Boyfriend or significant other 5 minutes alone with this guy, that would be justice.

I was paddled by both male and female teachers in grade school so can I now have them all arrested and prosecuted for sexual assault?

Very good question here. They would have to be prosecuted under the law in effect at the time, so that may make a difference. As far as a statute of limitations is concerned, many states have extended (or eliminated) statutes of limitations for sexual offenses against a child, but that again would have to be based on the law in effect at the time. I'd say go for it!

If she were smart, she'd drop the charges and marry the guy. ...if this upset her that much, it's clearly her first experience and apparently this is the first and only guy in her life to ever find her attractive.

'Sexually Violated' is a bit over the top but he was wrong and should pay appropriately. Had he done it in another place and time he might of gotten his behind beat if her man was nearby. Wasn't live TV but she was still working. Look at the 5 idiots before him...he was just the biggest idiot.

Wouldn't surprise me if she'd excuse Bill Clinton. Or had it been a woman? So much is politics and lacks consistency.

...When my eldest son asked me what he should have done, had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908, whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defended me, I told him that it was his duty to defend me even by using violence. I'm the inappropriate camp on this. I don't care if he is heavily involved with a church. In short, he should be held and hold himself to a higher standard.

I personally was scared to death at a self-defense class recently (8 weeks ago) when I got partnered with a woman. There is no way to appropriately grapple with a lady during physical training. The trainer partnered me on purpose with her knowing my feelings on it. He knew I'd do everything I could to not touch her inappropriately even when grappling and binding movement with a trainee newbie.

I've not been back to a class in the last 8 weeks because of it. He can't seem to understand my feelings on it, and asked what happens if assaulted by a woman, I said I'll flatten her if I can. He has a female trainer, that is good and with her I don't have the problem. She knows what to expect and expects it unlike someone new. The problem was that she was offsite doing training of an all women's class.

All his classes are mix gender unless there is an only women class. If it had been even a woman with several classes under her belt, I'd still be uncomfortable, but by that time, they at least know what to expect over a newbie.

Another time, another place, . . . or another person ? This might have been taken as a compliment.

But in the here and now, with the "awareness" of personhood, with the particular language of the law, and with the exactness of standards of required personal behavior - this is an act neither socially acceptable, morally proper, nor legally right.

How he is dealt with by his wife and children is their own prerogative, and they may let it remain their private affair or choose to make some or all of it public. Whatever.

However society, as a whole or persons as individuals, plays it, it will play out as it will, our own prejudices notwithstanding.

How the law (it is clear, as written, that this act is an offense and breach of the laws) deals with it will depend on who is involved in the prosecution and to some extent, their own personal attitude toward this issue AND TOWARD THESE PERSONS.

He says he "got caught up in the moment", whatever that means. Weasel-words, if there ever were such. He knew it was wrong before he even got near her. Whatever comeuppance he brings on himself, I am sure will be MORE than he reckoned on, and will more than adequately teach him the wrongness of his thought and (thoughtless) act.

As a moral issue, I hope she soon finds it in her heart to forgive him and he repents appropriately.
As a legal issue, let the law and those charged with its execution do their will.

At the end of things, If that were MY granddaughter he slapped, he would dread the law less than what a irate family would bring him.

All governments suffer a recurring problem: Power attracts pathological personalities. It is not that power corrupts but that it is magnetic to the corruptible. Such people have a tendency to become drunk on violence, a condition to which they are quickly addicted. . . . . . . . . . . . .. — Frank Herbert, Chapterhouse: Dune
