Of course, if you take a "do over" you'll have to add another year to that long, long, long, long list!

    Happy Birthday, dewd!

I realize it’ll be awhile before you see this. At your age, forgetting where you are and where you belong is rampant.
All you need for happiness is a good gun, a good horse, and a good wife.

Happy birthday, I hope it was a good one. Heck, celebrate all year!

THANKS! It's nice to be remembered. I'm feeling really worn out, wife yells to me that there's a possum on the back porch. I kill 'em when they come around. So, I went out there with my .22 and shot it. I tried to carry it to the back of the yard to toss it into the woods, started falling forward and ended up on the ground by the time I got back there. I'm doing rough today due the anemia caused by my bone marrow/bloodcancer combined with the lack of balance due to the chemo I have to take. I've decided to use the cane, not to help me walk, but to slow me when I begin to fall forward uncontrollably, I'll use it to stop stumbling forward.

Deer season started today, the gun part. I haven't had my balance enough to climb that tree to bow hunt, gave that up before I could fall and break my fool neck or stab myself with a crossbow bolt or something. I didn't grab the .308 THIS morning, either, Though I did wake up about 4AM and think about it. I just laid in bed. Maybe Monday. Tomorrow's church. I have to go out and check my hog trap, I'm determined to harvest some pork given the chance. We have LOTS of pigs showing up back there. It ain't hard to get to my box blind, can ride the ATV to within 30 yard walk through the trees an I have a nice comfy office chair ON THE GROUND to sit in. 50 yards to the feeder from there, 100 yards to the back fence. I set all this up when we moved here not knowing about the cancer, yet, knowing I was getting old. I wanna enjoy hunting long as I can. I can't enjoy my favorite waterfowl hunting anymore, obviously, but I can shoot pigs (best eating), deer, rabbit sometime, squirrel, and doves. The layout of this place makes that possible and my dog shagging the doves for me helps a lot for that.

Heard shots this AM and guys driving down the private road ours ties into. Been a few deer or pigs shot already. Time I get my share, though I still have venison left over from last year and have an elk hunt planned on a high fence ranch in west Texas this season.

So, I can still keep the freezer stocked, I guess. But, old age and infirmity have forced me to make concessions. I worried about that when I bought this place and now my planning is paying off. I guess that's why they say old age ain't for sissies.

Anyway, thanks to all. Wife took me to my favorite BBQ place about 35 miles from here in Ellinger, Peter's BBQ. And, she got me some stuff for the new to us pick up I bought a while back. Life is good regardless of complications. Praise God for what we DO have, forget the complications.

    Face it..........we're old.
    But still darn good looking.
As for the cane............keep using it and do not go anywhere without it.
I had a bad time wanting to use a cane. Canes are for old people. No they aren't.
I don't need a cane to walk although I look like I have a pair of loaded diapers.
I need it to keep from falling down. It's saved my butt dozens of times.
Now I have at least 8 of the darn things laying around here plus one in each vehicle.
Personally I think they make me look dignified..........
Just think how stylish you will look.
