Dick's Sporting Goods is Gone, now it is Rakuten

Not sure when it happened, or how, but the Japanese now own what was Dick's. Maybe we could convince them to start selling samurai swords, appeal to the 'Game of Thrones', Renaissance Fair and 'Highlander' crowd. No reason for them not to sell guns, not that Dick's is gone. Moriwaki ?sp makes a lot of high end firearms, or did.

When you click on "learn more," it sounds like something called ebates is what's changing to rakuten. And a search for Dick's Sporting Goods Rakuten gets nothing.

Yeah I think you read that wrong. Rakuten doesn't own them. Dick's is still Dick's.

Thanks for correcting me, looks like I was over-enthused about the end of Dick's. If Dick's stays solvent, it won't be because of me. They are a big nothing burger to me. Mods drop this thread at your discretion.

I read where the stock holders weren't at all happy about the huge loses dick's had sustained since their brilliant decision to get rid of the guns. If the same management is kept, the name change is just a different color of lipstick.

Not only did they make a decision against gun owners, they didn't do it quietly. Instead they promoted it thinking what? More libs would buy sneakers and clothes? They should fire whoever did that analysis.

Last thing I bought there was over 5 years ago because someone gave me a gift certificate. Although I did buy my 10/22 there prior to that.

...When my eldest son asked me what he should have done, had he been present when I was almost fatally assaulted in 1908, whether he should have run away and seen me killed or whether he should have used his physical force which he could and wanted to use, and defended me, I told him that it was his duty to defend me even by using violence. Dick's has seems to be betting all the eggs in the basket on world wide marketing. There may be a market for over priced sports wear and gear. The market is too crowded in my opinion for that to work. Overpriced sports items stores around here are or have gone down the tubes. I've been wrong before. It's wait and see at this time.

Since many of us cannot seem to quit playing on the name...this has to close.
