    Watch Your Step!

My son and I were emptying some trash this afternoon. This little fellow was at my back gate. I didn't see him until I'd stepped over him twice and my son had stepped over him once. I guess we are lucky not to have been bitten.

He is now an ex western diamondback.

They sure like to get all curled up and warm.
40 years ago, at Fort Hood, my Lt came in to our GP Medium tent to talk. He put his helmet down between his feet while sitting on a cot. Maybe 5 minutes pass, he gets up and asks us, "ok who put this toy snake ... ". Then it moved. From then on I always thoroughly checked my bed, shoes, and clothes when in the field.
The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest we become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance. - Cicero 55 B.C.

All governments suffer a recurring problem: Power attracts pathological personalities. It is not that power corrupts but that it is magnetic to the corruptible. Such people have a tendency to become drunk on violence, a condition to which they are quickly addicted. . . . . . . . . . . . .. — Frank Herbert, Chapterhouse: Dune

That's a good one. My first reaction was to pull my pistol and shoot it, but I live in town, so I went to the shed and got a hoe. Cut him in half and gave him a proper burial in the dumpster.

Agreed. Black snakes, snakes that have a distinct purpose and do good, are a different story, but rattlers and cottonmouths get the buckshot from me every time.

When Leonidas was preparing to make his stand, a Persian envoy arrived. The envoy explained to Leonidas the futility of trying to resist the advance of the huge Persian army and demanded that the Spartans lay down their arms. Leonidas told Xerxes "MOLON LABE", or "Come And Get Them."
