Is that hat made with Shantung straw? I've found that to be the lightest in weight, and coolest for hot summer wear. I have one straw hat so heavy and hot, it would make a good winter hat. I don't wear that one much at all. Use it mostly in the fall.

Bad picture, here is a better one. The crown is called a "Telescope" but most refer to it as a "Gambler's."

I can't say with any certainty about the straw, but I know what you mean about a hat feeling heavy. Of all the straw hats I have owned this one is very light and with there being much more open area on the crown your head stays much cooler. Good prices too if you want quality hats. You should see the felt hats custom made right there in the shop. Drop in and we'll go to Decatur and get you one.

In Texas you really need a hat for the summer sun.
