I have the highest respect for those guys. I was skydiving for quite awhile and only once, did I ever make a static line jump......although that's parachuting, not actually skydiving. I'm sorry but......that low stuff's just plain nuts! I made a 100 meter jump from an AN-2 with vintage round gear, belly reserve an' all. On a jump like that, the reserve isn't there to save you if your main canopy doesn't open. Its only potential use is if your main happens to get hung on the tail, then you have to cut the lines and deploy your reserve......and fast. Maintaining proper separation between jumpers is extremely critical. If two get out too close together, there can be a collision, entanglement or you can "steal air" from the guy that went out before you, either delaying or preventing his canopy from opening. It's a pretty intense way to go. I'm glad I had the chance to experience it but once was enough......a guy could get hurt doin' stuff like that.
