    When it's your time?

I'm not sure where to begin. I know, at the beginning right!

I rent and this morning I was stopping by the office to pick up my copy of the new lease. I pull in and about 100 yds. down the street I see a fire truck and 2 Sheriff's cars. I proceed to park and see the office lady and a few other folks standing in the parking lot looking in the direction of the emergency vehicles. I get out and say something to the effect of exciting morning huh?

The office lady then proceeds to tell me that the guy took 2 shots with a shotgun in an effort to commit suicide!! He missed with the first? Then fairly quickly took a second shot? And was still alive!

The office lady said she walked over there and saw the shotgun laying between the guys legs. And he was telling people to just let him die. I did tell her next time she hears gunshots it might be best to go the other way.

The situation is so sad. I can't help but think that this guy was in a mental state that he failed with the first shot and actually pulled the trigger a second time. I have some legal and moral ideas about this kind of situation but as usual they are probably best kept as my thoughts rather than to share.

He didn't really want to off himself. Too bad he has to live with the damage from a shotgun shell or two at close range

Had a former co worker do the same thing, the second shot was successful.

Well, I know for a fact that after the first shot, he was deaf as a doorknob, so maybe he decided to take the second shot. I hope he gets the help he needs, if he survives.

That is a terrible way to start the day. It is to bad that you were exposed to that tragedy. Poor planning. Perhaps a lifetime of poor planning is what led him to decide to end it all. If he has mental health problems his actions are beyond reason.

"The problem with mental health is that many people are yelling at the top of their lungs for help, but it seems the industry and others are deaf". - Me

Sadly, many that ask or need mental health help never receive the help they need until something like this, or worse, happens. Between the stigma of getting counseling or other mental health assistance, and others that are either hands off or have a stigma about those with mental health conditions.

May this person get the help they need, now that it seems somebody is answering their plea for help.

I was stationed at Red River Army Depot, TX, in the late 80s and the news reported that a guy in a border town in Arkansas shot himself 7 (yes, 7) times in the heart and lungs with a bolt action .22 rifle.

He also had several dozen homemade porn videos (BetaMax) starring (as the newscaster put it) many "Local Actors and Actresses".

Jay Leno even used that in his monologue, saying "Now, it's one thing to shoot yourself, but it seems like it would get more difficult, with each shot." 🤔

Suicide, a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

People suffering depression feel a pain, not unlike an abcessed tooth. Like pulling the tooth with whiskey and pliers, they just want the pain to stop...and that's one way to stop the pain.
