    When I was a kid Godzera was a hero to humanity. They would call on him for assistance when other giant creatures would attack.

    Yeah, they did that with a few of them. In their first movie, the monsters were usually the bad guys but in their sequels, they were saving Japan from one or more of the others. Mothra and Gamera were heroes in some movies too. The Son of Godzilla was always good, as I recall and a real hoot......like a cross between the Michelin Man and the Pillsbury Doughboy and he blew smoke rings......pretty hard to be afraid of that.
