    Normandy - June 6, 1944

Seventy five years later, we owe it to those brave and outstanding men and women who made the world safe for Democracy in the face of it's greatest threat. We pause and reflect and say a prayer for those who left our earth ten and since. Theirs was yeoman duty.

“…democratic socialism, the great utopia of the last few generations, is not only unachievable but that to strive for it produces something utterly different – the very destruction of freedom itself. As has been aptly said: ‘What has always made the state a hell on earth has been precisely that man has tried to make it his heaven.'” F.A. Hayek

    D - Day 75th. Anniversary

Those who hit that beach and survived, came home and did anything they set their mind to do.
After hitting that beach, watching your friends being gunned down, anything life presents afterwards is a cakewalk.
The greatest generation was a bunch of 18, 19, 20 year old kids at the time.

Seventy-five years. Wow. Think how different the world would be if those men hadn't stormed that beach. God bless them all.

Hitler was so close to the atom bomb and perfecting jet fighters and missiles that another year might have seen them invincible.

Don't forget, the Russians and their winter put a hurt on the Germans.

Operation Barbarossa was not just done on a whim or for ego and pride. The Germans were in dire need of the material of warfare, primarily oil.

I do stand corrected on the A bomb theory however. Turns out they were not close at all.
