A good friend committed suicide today.
Nothing anyone could have done.

“…democratic socialism, the great utopia of the last few generations, is not only unachievable but that to strive for it produces something utterly different – the very destruction of freedom itself. As has been aptly said: ‘What has always made the state a hell on earth has been precisely that man has tried to make it his heaven.'” F.A. Hayek
Been there, someone did that. I have plenty of empathy for the shock you are experiencing. Prayers sent for your strength, and the strength needed by the deceased' family and other friends.

I've also experienced loss due to a tragic suicide with no warning. It's devastating to say the least.
My condolences. Happened to me when I was in my early 20's, guy I worked with previously. I don't think it would ever be any easier to deal with.

When Leonidas was preparing to make his stand, a Persian envoy arrived. The envoy explained to Leonidas the futility of trying to resist the advance of the huge Persian army and demanded that the Spartans lay down their arms. Leonidas told Xerxes "MOLON LABE", or "Come And Get Them."

You'll probably think "if only I would have...". There's nothing you could have done. Save your worry for the family, as they will be doing the same thing. It helps to have hope, if you're in to that sort of thing (and I hope you are).
RIP "good friend".
Our middle kid made two attempts (in two consecutive days) at suicide when he was 16. The second try almost worked. He's 33 now. His mom and I still get real anxious when we don't hear from him for a few days.
I pray for peace and comfort for your friend's family, friends, and loved ones... yourself included.

Prayers are needed, and given, sorry man.....................
There are "four boxes" that can be employed to resist the downfall of America, the ballot box, the soap box, the jury box and, lastly, the ammo box.
This is something I can understand and relate to.
Sometimes there is an overwhelming pain that doesn't leave marks or signs.
All we can do is grieve and wish they knew how much we cared, and sometimes we need to show it more.
There are other times when we do show it, and cause them more pain because they feel like they let us down.
Sometimes, we just need to learn to listen and then talk.
