More condolences on your friends passing/taking.

There have been 5 in my life. My best friend hung himself in the garage at the age of 27 after fighting addiction for many years. Sadly his mother found him. Another very close friend had their 16yo. son suck on a shotgun in their livingroom. Another friends dad also sucked the gun after his wife told him she wanted a divorce. Another family friend OD. Lastly my nephew hung himself in a park.

Me, I'm chicken and could never do it no matter what the circumstances.

Sorry for your loss. I've lost an uncle, a friend, and a couple of coworkers to suicide over the years. It's terribly sad.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. This is a heck of a big family. One of the many comments brought to mind the Serenity Prayer, and this seems like a wonderful time to share it again:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

    Still working on the wisdom.

Sorry to hear this, praying for you and all involved.

As others have posted, I also have lost family and friends this way, it's not easy.
You do wonder if you just could have.

I gotta admit the greatest peace I've ever know was when I lost a family member.

May I be made small, and God be lifted up.

I have tried to write a response to your post since I first read it. And other than to say I'm so very sorry for what you and the family are having to try to understand yet grieve looking for peace and answers. Words simply fail me right now.

Many of us have been in this position as friends who have lost friends. There are also some here who have faced this uncomfortable time of passing much more closely than the loss of a friend, but with the loss of a family member.

The first three lines of a song hit me one day and talked to me about the loss of a friend. It didn't give me any answers, but it gave me perspective.

    I know your life
    On earth was troubled
And only you could know the pain.

Bad deal and I feel for you. Many years ago I heard a very wise person talking about suicide and he said that it's always easy to see a person sneeze but almost impossible to see the tickle in their nose that causes the sneeze. Have known a couple people who did it and had one uncle who did. One thing about it, once a person makes up their mind, there is virtually nothing anyone can do to stop it.
