We just got over 1/2 inch here. There's been good moisture for planting, and most have cotton in the ground from this past week. So this rain on fresh planting is very beneficial.

I learned a new term today watching the weather channel...."PDS" or Potentially Dangerous Situation.

Yeah, I know, how boring, the weather channel. Well, I use it to get to sleep on the couch. Been working for me for as long as we've had cable TV...

Saturday night the wife and I and the two dogs spent a couple of hours down in the basement because of possible tornados. As soon as my wife hears the "take shelter" warning, she's gone. It was a good rehearsal as we haven't done it in a while. Everything went smoothly.

Last night, because of high winds I suppose, we lost power for about 6 hours starting right at supper time. I dug out all the lanterns and my wife finished cooking supper on the gas stovetop. Ate by candlelight. Pretty romantic for two 72-year olds. We've pretty much got all that down after all these years. I was just about to start digging out the generators when the power came back on.

We're supposed to have more storms today. We'll just take that in our stride too, I suppose.

Very windy, lots of rain, a little hail, and a small tornado south of town. Other than that no big deal. Just another West Texas spring day.

Even at my age, you're never too old to learn. I've never heard it called that before. I'll admit that after 35 years in Texas I still didn't know what it was called … but now I do!
