    Front Porch Guardian

My guardian of the front porch is back. Looks like the same one as last year. This is one good size Racer and fast.

Cool! Have you noticed a drop in the local rodent population?

We have several large Black Rat Snakes around the sheds and out buildings so not too many rodents. I believe this guy is reducing the local lizard population around the house.

Dad put a rubber snake in his garage doorway to scare the birds away.
Younger brother opened the door saw snake, got gun, shot snake.

Good laugh every time we tell it.
Adam blamed Eve, Eve blamed the snake, The snake didn't have a leg to stand on.

Opportunity may knock ounce, but temptation leans on the doorbell.

The only snake I ever shot was a water moccasin. It was insisting on climbing into the boat, and I objected. Little did I realize why it wanted in the boat. It was taken under within seconds of me shooting it by the biggest Muskie I ever laid eyes on.

I wouldn't have wanted to be in the water either.

I watched a water snake trying to get up into a overhanging willow bush. It was kind of frantic in it's attempts almost jumping to reach a limb. It didn't make it cuz a big Large Mouth grabbed it and was gone.

These Racers give me the creeps. I think my lizard population was way down last year, and probably because of a couple of these.

Reminds me that I need to switch out the buck shot from my Judge to #9 birdshot.
Battle of Wanat: 10 years ago last 13 July, 1LT Brostram was killed in combat killing the last enemy combatant in the outpost. The LT went to the point of decision and made the difference that turned the tide of the battle. The original investigation found the Bde Cmdr, the Bn Cmdr and the Co Cmdr at fault for dereliction of duty. If you want to see what a sarcastic silver star citation reads like, pull up the company commander's silver star.
