    Road Flagger Killed in DC

It's so very sad. People don't need any excuse to kill anymore. Ehrn your husband goes to work every day as a flagger, you don't expect him to be shot and killed.

There have always been scumbags, since the beginning of time. With larger population comes a greater instance of scumbags. Just look what happens as cities grow larger.

With the media it's true that "If it bleeds, it leads!"

Cities and large population areas seem to breed violent crime. Too many people too close together leads too tension and violence.

Look at this story, on the same site, but local to us. Why?

What grudge did someone have for a 14 year old?

"Holmes and the gunman may have had a similar dispute last saturday." Sounds like a grudge killing. The shooter would have shot him no matter what was said or done. It just took a week to fester.

I believe that the main thing that keeps society civil is the fear of being recognized and identified as a criminal and thus a threat to others. Cities have always offered a sort of hoodie of anonymity and cloak of invisibility for people to act out the worst human traits. They can dart out of the crowd, assault someone, then scamper back into the crowd to strike again later. Today, we see it all the time at political rallies, or just at random on the street.
