    Motorcycle License ?

Just wondering out of curiosity . Do you still have to have Motorcycle license with a regular DL ?? I know it probably wont happen cause of funds but I have a strong WANT urge to get a Harley Heritage at some point in my life before I get too old but right now all I can do is dream . SO those of you with a MDL , what's the rules or being 65 can you drive with regular DL ??

In Washington you need an additional motorcycle endorsement on your license.
It is an additional $54 and last for 6 years at which time you can renew it.
    There are no age restrictions.
I was grandfathered in because I've been riding since motorcycles were powered by coal
but here you now need to take a riding class which last about 6 weeks or so and then pass the test,
    both written and riding.
I have no idea what the requirements in Texas are.
Probably something like handing you a new set of spurs and yelling "Yeeeehaw!!!!"

I got my motorcycle license about 50 years ago. Your post roused my curiosity, so I found this site: https://www.dps.texas.gov/DriverLicense/dlClasses.htm

My license says Class CM. Now I know I can drive a vehicle up to 26,001 pounds, pulling a farm trailer up to 20,000 pounds, and drive a passenger vehicle with up to 23 people, including me. Who knew!!

BTW, since there is a class for motorcycles, I suspect you still have to take a test.

In Texas you need a Class M (motorcycle) license in addition to your regular DL. To qualify you have to pass a motorcycle safety course approved by the state.

Yep, need the class M. I got it when I got my regular DL. Didnít ride for 20 years but kept the M classification for +$5 to renew each time.

I donít think itís enforced much. Dealers donít even check.

I've had mine since 1966. I still have a motorcycle so I still have a license to ride it. Originally, it had a restriction "not to exceed 5 brake horsepower" which would probably include Harleys. When I turned 16, the restriction was dropped as I got my cager license.

Unless You want to test ride a bike, then most Dealers require a valid class M license.
I actually got My motorcycle license before I got a class C because I bought a street bike before I bought a car.
My Texas license is still CM.

Edit: I never took the MSF course, I just rode down to the DMV with a chase driver for the examiner to ride behind Me and passed the test, this was in 1984.

I'd rather ride around in a '68 Firebird than drive a motorcycle!

Pay for the class to get endorsement is $250. Why do i not have to pay for classes to drive a car? How about let me take the test. If i pass you pay me. I just a few years you will not be allowed to drive. Drone self driving only.
