I suppose only us Borneres are aware that PA is inhabited by the abominal, bigfooted, great white, sabre-toothed grizzly chipmunk.

Prob'ly the only way any of them could be injured by a wild animal in PA, is if they tripped over one and hit their head on a rock.

    Whadda buncha WIMPS!

When I was at A&M the Wildlife Biology Association was always camping in the desert or some such. Our motorcycle club went on a fine spring break trip to Aransas and back, slept on the ground everywhere. When I was a freshman, there was a Wildlife Science credit course that went to Saltillo, Mexico and slept on the ground. They always went over the Christmas break. I wanted to go one year, but didn't have the money. They got on the Walter Chronkite news because a rabid skunk got into the camp site and bit a could of the guys and they had to be life flighted by the military to San Antonio for treatment. Not being there was a good thing. I have no desire to go through rabies shots in the stomach, what they did back then.

But, Aggies are a lot tougher than yankees, obviously.

Something highly unlikely to be approved of, much less provided to those who don't own one, and in all honesty could potentially be more hazardous to the health of the students if left in untrained hands.

I'm all for calling out unnecessary caution/preventative measures, but in this particular case I can understand where Penn State University is coming from, especially in the current climate with all eyes on educational institutions and sensationalist journalists chomping at the bit for a big juicy story for them to put a negative spin on.
