    New Car....guess not

Went to the nearest Ford dealer with all intentions of buying a new car this evening. Got out of my car walked into dealer lot and started looking at new car options. Not a single salesman came to see if I need help, several will milling around and talking among themselves. I looked at over 20 vehicles and was pretty set on getting a new 2018 Ford Edge. After spending about 30 minutes looking at different models and not a singe person asking if I need help I walked back over to my car and left.

Stopped at the Hyundai dealer down the street to check out the Santa Fe and was greeted by a very professional non pushy salesman. Answered all my questions, and never once felt like I was being fed a line of crap from him. Thanked him for his time, told him I need to do some further research and got all of his contact information. Pretty sure I may end up getting the Santa Fe. I had one for a rental in New England last summer for 10 days and was pretty impressed with it, that was the reason I stopped to look after Ford pissed me off. They also have a lot better warranty than Ford and come in about $8000 cheaper.

Like I told the salesman, have a lot of research to do now.

I just bought a new vehicle and around here, it's like chum in the water when you walk in, but after that it was a fairly pleasant experience. I hope you figure out what to do with your car.

Hyundai and KIA, only two brands I'll recommend to anyone but isis, obama and clinton.

I drove a Hyundai Tucson for 10 years and 120k miles...6 cylinder. No issues until after warranty when the oil pan rusted through at the corners where they apparently drew the metal too thin..they fixed that under warranty at 105k which was nice. 5,000 later the harmonic balancer flew off, thankfully a block away from home. That repair was on my dime.

I might add, Chrysler has been putting out a good product. My 2015 Durango, 6 cylinder, has been a champ with 38k on it with -0- issues...20 mpg around town, 23+ highway. My wife has a 2015 Cherokee and loves the heck out of that vehicle...I prefer my Durango for comfort.

I bought an Edge Limited AWD last year and have been very happy. A few glitches with the 'My Ford Touch' system but nothing too big. The Santa Fe is one I looked at and it is really nice. Probably can't go wrong with either one.

If you can wait until the end of the month the dealers have to move inventory so you may get a better deal then. The Nissan Rouge is a good buy with plenty of features.
Do online research of the different packages ie. SL, SEL, LTD, etc. Decide what options you want before going in and do not settle for less. Also check the dealers invoice price and the manufacture's rebates and incentives and refuse to pay a dealers prep fee. Good luck and don't be shy about walking away it is your money.

I had a customer come in with an '03 Santa Fe (in '17), the fuel tank had rusted out. Being a saddle tank (over the driveshaft), a swap was labor intensive and the cheapest replacement tank I could find was pushing $400. Now in the habit of checking TSBs before doing anything, I happened to see one pertaining to the Santa Fe fuel tanks......they'd extended the warranty on them for 16 years, regardless of owners. Hyundai took care of that one for her. I wish they'd make a full-sized pickup.

That's amazing! I have never walked onto a car dealership lot and not been mauled by the sales staff! I would blame the lack of service on that particular shop. There must be another Ford dealership in the area.
