I am going that way of late also. When shoping for my wife's vehicle it was between a Mazda CX 5 and the Jeep Cherokee. She liked the Cherokee better for driveability and features.

The playing field is muddied now with foreign makers producing vehicles in our country and I applaud them for providing jobs here, but the cash still heads off shore. Further mucking it all up is that US produced vehicles by US companies contain components sourced from around the globe.

Another tactic just occurred to me...You should call the owner of the dealership and relate your story giving them the date and times you were there. Consider it a public service for them to kick some lazy sales butt. A plus might be that a salesperson will drive a demo of the vehicle you might be interested in to your house for you to test drive.

Heck...If I were the owner, I would give you the sales manager's demo to use for a month and put them into some trade-in to drive...let the message sink in for 30 days.

Fords are trash anyway. They are engineered to be manufactured and that makes them impossible to maintain. Wear items like alternators are at the bottom rear of the engine where you have to remove a CV shaft (can you say replacing two quarts of tranny fluid?) to get them out, while the power steering pump, which should last the life of the car, is at a very serviceable spot up top in front. PCV valves, which are plastic instead of at least cheap tin, are located under intake manifolds that require the removal of the radiator to get to. No thank you. Absolute trash.

As eloquent as you are, this of course is your own personal opinion and not to be construed as a proclamation from a definitive authority, right?

Another vote for the Santa Fe. I researched year-old cars for my sister and that one rose to the top of the pack in price to performance. She bought it two years ago and still loves it.

I agree, I can't remember a time when a salesman was not walking up to my car before I even got out of it. Their loss I'll spend my money else where.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

The 2nd amendment is not about hunting or shooting sports, it is about the citizens of this country having the means to protect themselves and the states from the tyranny, oppression, and misery of an over powering government. Modern rifles are a means for the citizens to stand up to an over powering government.

Thank you for the compliment, and sorry, yes:

    IMHO

I must apologize, I suffer from PTSD caused by working on Fords. Everyone in my social and work circles know I won't touch them anymore. Sometimes they try and slip one by me: "Hey, can you help me change my spark plugs this weekend?"..."What kind of car?"..."Oh it's an F-150--" "[Expletive NO!]"

About a year ago I went shopping for a van for the animal shelter. My first stop was Ford as they have some good van options. The salesman was out right away and doing a good job, not being too pushy etc. We went in and sat down at his desk to talk. The phones were ringing and somebody walking fast behind me spoke to my sales guy and said "Hey Fred, get that phone" like I wasn't even there. He picked it up and I got up to leave. He cupped his hand over the phone and said I won't be but a minute and I said I'll be gone by then. You can thank your manager for losing a sale. I ended up buying a $35K Nissan van. Was treated like a king over there and since then their service department has been exceptional as well.
