Well, today was my last day. I am now unemployed. Going to the range tomorrow with some people from (ex-)work. Family starts arriving on Saturday for Christmas.
Got lots of hugs from co-workers. That's the bittersweet part of leaving. Won't miss a lot, but I will miss the people.

I'm not even going to start figuring out what I'm going to do next until after Christmas.
Y'all have a merry Christmas and remember to thank God for your family and your friends.

Sounds like you had a good job. I couldn't stand most of the guys I worked with. No tears for leaving that place.

Now, then, you just THINK you're retired. That's when the REAL work starts. But, the commute is short and you do get leeway with your schedule, to an extent.

Oh, I'm not retired; just between jobs.
Know anybody needs some contract programming done?
Actually, I'm thinking of developing an inexpensive system for filling out the state and Federal paperwork to simplify buying a firearm.

Good luck Kaw! I had to leave the workforce a few years back due to a chronic disability which had gone as far as it could and suddenly deteriorated. After working my butt off (medicine) at 120mph for over 40 years, having no structured work schedule has become boring as hell. Work at something you enjoy for as long as you can.

Nope, don't know of anyone looking for a programmer. My wife does the quit shops IT work, she's retired and 69 year old and taught computer science at a couple of universities, just goes in and cleans up that quit shops site occasionally keeping up with inventory. But, that's part time work and you're still looking to work full time I guess.
