I love frog legs got the kids hooked on them to. We gig in season to get enough to last until next season. Nothing better going to the freezer in January and frying some legs.

I have eaten the whole frog before and loved it. Used to only eat the legs but my Gramdma show me what I was missing. One thing a buddy showed me to do was to gig using a 4-wheeler. Looks like the vibration and noise from the 4-wheeler either confuses them or they cant make you out but we have had very few frogs get away while using this technique. Can get dicey when you get closer to the edge then you expect. Along the same lines, what about turtle? Really like it.

Yeppers, Missouri boys catch frogs like that and that aint all they do. As MissKitty mentioned they go noodling which is sticking your arm in a catfish hole and letting him grab it (bite it) and pull him out. I do neither but have caught frogs that way before as a kid. And I've never had frog in any way to my knowledge. Sort of surprised me to realize that. I've eaten most others things that crawl, slither, jump, swim or move.

The biggest frogs I ever saw you wouldn't eat. Not if you were smart at least. They were in the binjo ditches of Japan and were the size of dinner plates easy. A binjo ditch is sort of an open sewer.

    Blah!!

I just got back from lunch and read this thread for the first time. I'm feelin' a little green right now ...

This must be a southern thing! I did try frog legs one time and never again. I can't imagine frying up a whole frog. But that's just me.

Yeah i've eat frog legs in the past as a young one . Had all i wanted of the snakes too meaning fought with those too ! Friend of mine once thought it was funny to gig a CM as we were wading a foot deep in water . Snake was about 2' long and as strong as a bull !! He gigged it and it swimm all around us before it was able to get off the hook and that my friend was the first time i walked on water !! I've had rattler , don't care much for it there is not enough meat to feed a cat . Don't think CM would be good eatin either . CMs' are mean , they will chase you if you harm them and i do mean MEAN !!!

I like frog legs, never tried the whole frog. If they are not cooked right they get greasy fast. And no I do not think they taste like chicken. I think they taste like Frog Legs, and more similar to fish than chicken in flavor.
